The Teide National Park is one of the most beautiful geological landmarks in Spain. The Teide is the highest point in the country, attracting many visitors from abroad to see this volcano. Some seek to immortalise the moment… at any cost.
Despite the risk of standing at the edge of a gorge while the wind blows, a Spanish family didn’t hesitate to get the best possible photo. In the video, you can see how a father, with his daughter on his shoulders, positions himself near the mountain’s edge while they take a snapshot.
You can even see both protagonists open their hands, with the girl having no point of grip other than resting on her father’s shoulders. Throughout the video, after the first photo, the mother joins the family scene on a rock, at the most dangerous point in the area visible in the image.
After the photo, and just before the end of the video, you can see the father lift and lower the girl without moving to a safer zone. A scene that will look beautiful in the frame of photos they will place in the family room, but it could have ended worse than it did for the sake of a simple snapshot.

The Teide National Park has become one of the busiest attractions in Tenerife, but it is not a park created for this purpose. In this area, there are many endemic species from the islands that are unique in the world.
In addition, it features geological formations as impressive as they are dangerous, requiring maximum care at any point in the National Park. In recent times, this area has been affected by people bypassing safety measures and committing environmental violations.
This issue is expected to be addressed gradually. Firstly, with the increase in controls in Tenerife’s protected natural areas on peak days. And secondly, with the fee that is set to be implemented from January 1, 2025.
