We all have in mind a situation of total need where our body can’t hold back the urge to fulfill a physiological need. The problem arises when we do not care about the environment we are in, especially if we are in a National Park.
In Tenerife, the Teide National Park is increasingly being mistreated by some of its visitors. They do not realize the importance of this place for the entire Archipelago, as well as its value in unique fauna and flora in our country. That is why any irresponsibility must be reported.
If last Sunday, May 19, a family took a risk on the edge of a ravine to take a photo in this protected natural space, an even worse situation was witnessed. A person decided to deviate from the marked trail and urinate on protected ground.

A person leaves the marked path and urinates in the Teide National Park / E. D.
It is worth noting that a few meters away, there were some facilities where one could ask to use the restroom. An action that leaves much to be desired and clearly shows the lack of control in the Teide National Park.

This comes several days after an increase in security controls was announced in protected natural areas. With an eye on January 1, 2025, when the eco-tax could become part of the daily life of the National Park, any care is needed to ensure one of the most important gems of our Archipelago and our country.
