Double session for Family Day in Santa Cruz. In the Southwest district, the sixth edition of the neighbourhood meetings La Molienda, an initiative that emerged six years ago promoted by the then District Councillor, Gladis de León, with Javier Rivero in his team. Over time, Rivero is the councillor of the Southwest and also of Civic Participation. The event designed to energize this area of the city is now the most important event held, as explained by Rivero himself.
The success of this meeting has turned La Molienda into the meeting point for families in the Southwest. The main novelty this year is the change of location: the football field in Barranco Grande has been left behind, as the grass does not recommend this type of setup, to give prominence to the flagship park of the Southwest: La Estrella.
In the central square, inflatable castles, a climbing tower, an adventure park, or an American track, among the most popular attractions, along with the Funko Pop characters, who also attended. The innovative gaming point set up on the court caught attention. The participation of the Activoz group is also noteworthy, as they collaborated in selling items to raise funds for their new solidarity challenge.

The Southwest councillor, Javier Rivero, explained that the event «moves this year to La Estrella park because the state of the grass in the Barranco Grande football field discourages holding it there, due to vehicle and setup work. That’s why we have the drafting of the grass replacement project out for tender». «Within the area closest to Barranco Grande, the only space that offers around 2,500 square metres of flat surface is the central square of La Estrella park, hence the decision to move it to Los Alisios».
Rivero ensures that «its character of recreational and leisure activities for the children of the Southwest, which is the Young District of Santa Cruz, remains intact», to highlight the importance La Molienda has among the area’s residents.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, along with the Southwest District Councillor, Javier Rivero, praised the event as «a great success in participation and an example of the strength and unity of the neighbourhood». The mayor emphasized «the high participation of families and the collaboration of various local groups, who are the real protagonists.
