On the day of Canarias, breathe life into your table, breathe life into your land is the slogan of the campaign promoted by the Department of Economic Promotion and Employment of Arona to encourage attendance and purchases at the Municipal Farmer’s Market, as well as to raise awareness that consuming local products is essential to preserve traditions and keep the Canarian identity alive. This campaign will run from Monday until June 15th.
The Arona Farmer’s Market, located in Valle San Lorenzo, is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 to 14:00, while its extension maintains the same schedule on two alternate Thursdays of each month next to Plaza La Pescadora, on the promenade of Los Cristianos.
Posters, brochures, megaphones, media, social networks, and apps are the means through which the promotion of support for local production and the advocacy of the advantages of consuming fresh, zero-kilometre products marketed directly by producers will be carried out.
Dácil León, councillor for Economic Promotion and Employment, explained that the timing of this promotion with the Day of Canarias highlights “the importance of continuing to support our agriculture, livestock and fishing, as well as our pastries, honey, cheeses, wines, and crafts.
This campaign will also coincide with the celebration of the festivities and the pilgrimage of Valle San Lorenzo in honour of the Virgin of Fátima, which attracts thousands of people to the village where the Arona Farmer’s Market is located, “providing a great opportunity to promote and encourage the influx of local and tourist visitors to that facility,” potential customers.
