Confiscation of two anaesthetic injection devices at a zoo in the southern part of Tenerife

As a preventive measure, the Administrative Surveillance and Inspection Unit (UVIA) of the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police confiscated two anaesthetic injection devices at a zoo situated in the south of Tenerife.

The inspection team, during their visit to the zoo, requested the activation of the animal escape protocol.

During the inspection, it was discovered that the zoo personnel were utilising weapons classified under list 7.1 RA for anaesthetising the animals.

The zoo was found to be in possession of these weapons without the appropriate documentation or authorisation, as confirmed by the Canary Islands Government.

Subsequent to this discovery, the inspection team drafted official reports detailing the violations observed and registered complaints accordingly.
