Trade unions CSIF, CCOO, and Intersindical Canaria have decided to implement a complete stoppage of their work activities every Friday, starting today. This will take place during the morning break at 10:00 a.m. It is a demonstration of discontent “regarding the series of disastrous management practices that have been ongoing in the Tacoronte City Council for many years. These issues persist due to the constant failure of the mayor, Sandra Izquierdo, to fulfil her promises.”
In their official statement, the unions highlight that this action comes “at a time when nearly a hundred jobs are at risk if the stabilization target is not met by the year’s end, and the assessment of employees’ performance is at a standstill due to a Job Relationship interruption.”
In addition, there is concern over the delay in finalizing the collective agreement, approved over a year ago by the administration and unions, and the lack of willingness to equalize the rights of municipal workers and officials.
This decision was unanimously agreed upon in a meeting by the unions, with the hope that it will serve as a “wake-up call.” They intend for this protest to continue and escalate if the mayor does not shift focus from mere words to meaningful actions, they caution.
