SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Alfonso Cabello, the vice-counselor of the Presidency and spokesperson for the Government of the Canary Islands, expressed confidence that the outcome of the elections held in Catalonia yesterday and the surrounding “speculation” about potential parliamentary deadlock would not detract from the important issues for the Canary Islands.
“We are optimistic that any uncertainties will be resolved swiftly, enabling us to push forward and continue our work on crucial matters,” said Cabello during a press briefing following the Government Council meeting.
Commenting further, the spokesperson for the Canary Islands Government pointed out that a re-run of elections in Catalonia would only “add to the existing level of uncertainty in the current challenging political landscape at the national level.”
Cabello emphasized that, irrespective of the political analyses which fall outside the jurisdiction of the Canary Islands Government, he remains hopeful that any potential deadlock will not hamper the key issues on the Canary Islands’ agenda, including Posei, transportation subsidies, and other ongoing concerns that require attention.
