Get ready for something unique. Keep your eyes open and be all ears because NANNA, the fashion brand created by 22-year-old designer Nazareth Quesada Pineda from Tenerife, is here to stay. Even before the official debut of her first collection, only a few sneak peek images shared on her social media, the work of this Fashion Design student at the Higher School of Artistic Teaching (EASD) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is already drawing attention within the Canarian fashion scene. Her innovative concept, both in design and tailoring, has garnered recognition by being selected among nearly 90 designers worldwide as one of the seven finalists in the International Young Designers Competition of Tenerife Moda, with the winner to be announced on June 6th in the capital of Tenerife.
To avoid any confusion, it is worth mentioning that several weeks before Nazareth Quesada Pineda’s participation was announced, Con Estilo had already reached out to her for a feature in the magazine about her intriguing work.
Clothing for All Genders and Identities
“The outfits I propose are not mere accessories, but bold statements that highlight and complement the identity of those who choose them,” explains the mind behind NANNA, who acknowledges that “at the core of alternative fashion lies the celebration of each individual’s unique personality. With an inclusive approach,” Quesada Pineda says, “my garments are designed to fit each person’s physique, without distinction of gender, embracing all genders established in society and including non-binary identities.”
“My vision for NANNA is to create not just fashion but a movement that reflects individuality and authenticity,” emphasises the young designer from Tenerife. Charismatic and driven by great ambitions in the fashion industry, Naza, as she is known by her inner circle, affirms that the driving forces behind her unique and distinct style “are enthusiasm and dedication.”
“The search for my stylistic identity has been an introspective and revealing journey that has developed alongside my academic training. This journey of self-exploration,” she continues, “allowed me to discover that, intrinsically, I always had a clear vision for my professional future. My style, which has emerged after a process of self-discovery, is characterised by its genderless nature, a quality that transcends traditional gender boundaries and promotes inclusion,” adds the creative brain behind NANNA.
Volumes and Dark Aesthetics
“My approach is inspired by a dark aesthetic, where neutral colours dominate the palette and volumes alternate between maximalism and minimalism. This duality,” concludes Nazareth, “creates a delicate balance, a subtle line that separates the urban from the sophisticated because the interaction of these elements is not random; it is meticulously designed to enhance the ability to project a strong and firm personality for those who wear my garments.”
