A significant operation by the Civil Guard has resulted in the interception of 60 bales containing a total of 2,185 kilos of hashish on the coast of Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife. Following this seizure, an individual has been arrested on charges of a crime against public health and has been placed in custody.
Information exchange with the General Directorate of Surveillance over the Moroccan Territory (DGST) led to intelligence suggesting the imminent arrival of a vessel from Morocco carrying a significant quantity of narcotics to the shores of Tenerife.
Consequently, the Civil Guard Command in Santa Cruz de Tenerife mounted a substantial operation along the Tenerife coast involving citizen security, border agents, judicial police, and maritime service, supported by the COS’s Integrated Surveillance System Exterior (SIVE).
Around 2:00 in the morning, the SIVE detected a boat, and simultaneously, two off-road vehicles were seen speeding along an unpaved road near Tarajales beach. An inflatable boat was found abandoned on the beach, indicating a recent landing.

Law enforcement officers in the area attempted to intercept the vehicles which initially ignored commands to stop. Eventually, the vehicles were stopped, leading to the seizure of 29 bales of hashish. A known drug trafficker from Tenerife was apprehended, suspected to be one of the masterminds behind the drug smuggling operation.

The second vehicle, carrying 31 bales of hashish, saw its driver escape by jumping into a nearby ravine.
Both vehicles had been adapted for illegal activities, featuring automated lighting systems and no seating to maximize cargo capacity.
In total, 2,185 kilos of hashish were confiscated, along with the arrest of one individual, the seizure of two modified vehicles, and an inflatable boat.
This operation underscores the important collaboration between Moroccan authorities and international agencies in combating drug trafficking and organized crime.
The arrested individual has been remanded to the Granadilla de Abona Guard Court of Investigation, where provisional detention was ordered.
