An inquiry by the National Police is underway to examine allegations of minor corruption involving a coach of a soccer team in La Laguna, according to sources within the National Police as reported by Europa Press.
Following the submission of two complaints and subsequent awareness of the situation, the club UD Coromoto has relieved the coach of his duties as the investigation, overseen by a court in La Laguna, gets underway.
In a statement shared on social media, the club has expressed its firm stance on the dismissal of the coach, their collaboration with the National Police in seeking clarity on the matter, and their strong condemnation of any such misconduct.
The Autonomous Sports Organization of La Laguna has also voiced its “concern” over the “serious incidents” brought to light by the Coromoto Sports Union regarding the actions of one of its coaches.
“We stand in full solidarity with the minor and the affected family in this case, and offer our support to the club for any necessary actions to be taken,” they stated.
