The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has not taken any steps towards refunding the earmarked grant of 80,000 Euros awarded to the Hotel and Non-Hotel Business Association of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro (Ashotel) for leisure activities and dynamization of Hotel Thursday, as communicated by the Councilor for Human Resources, Purificación Dávila. This was in response to an inquiry posed by the PSOE spokesperson, Patricia Hernández, during the latest plenary session on April 26.
The socialist party submitted a payment request on April 12 to the city council’s registry, urging the council to reimburse the 80,000 Euros allocated to Ashotel, stating that “a private venture has been funded with public funds.”
Furthermore, the socialists pointed out that this sum was not part of the 2024 municipal budget. “It is clear that the plenary session did not endorse the grant to Ashotel. Therefore, this grant sneaks into the 2023-2024 Strategic Subsidy Plan through the back door, and we demand its cancellation as it goes against the law,” stated PSOE spokesperson Mónica Brito.
