In an operation conducted by the Civil Guard, a total of seven individuals were apprehended for violating public health laws after authorities intercepted an inflatable boat carrying 1,715 kilograms of hashish on the shores of Tenerife.
The operation, which unfolded around 4:00 a.m. on May 1, was made possible through collaborative intelligence sharing with the General Directorate of Surveillance over the Moroccan Territory (DGST).
The DGST alerted authorities about a boat en route from Morocco to Tenerife with the intention of offloading its illicit cargo on the Canary Islands.
Acting upon this information, the Civil Guard Command in Santa Cruz de Tenerife orchestrated a special operation that led to the apprehension of the seven suspects on the Mesa del Mar promenade in Tacoronte. The individuals were caught red-handed loading a substantial amount of bales from the boat into a van.

Five of the suspects were transporting the drugs, while the other two were identified as the boat’s skippers. Consequently, all seven were promptly arrested, and the 1,715 kg of hashish was confiscated.
Alongside the drugs, authorities also seized the inflatable boat, a van, a satellite phone, a GPS navigation device, and numerous mobile phones.
Subsequently, all detainees were remanded to the Court of Investigation in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, where provisional imprisonment was decreed for all seven individuals.
