SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4th May – EUROPA PRESS –
A total of seven individuals have been taken into custody by the Civil Guard on charges related to public health violations following an operation that led to the interception of an inflatable boat carrying 1,715 kilograms of hashish on the shores of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
According to the Civil Guard, the operation was executed around 4:00 a.m. on the 1st of May, with the precise location of the drug-carrying vessel made possible through collaborative information exchange with the General Directorate of Surveillance over the Moroccan Territory (DGST).
The DGST alerted authorities about the imminent arrival of a boat from Morocco attempting to land on the coast of Tenerife.
Consequently, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Civil Guard Command orchestrated a special operation during which law enforcement officers caught the seven suspects off guard on the Mesa del Mar promenade in Tacoronte. They had been in the process of loading a considerable quantity of bales from a semi-rigid boat into a van.
Five of the suspects were in possession of the illicit drugs, while the other two were operating the boat. Subsequently, all seven individuals were promptly apprehended, and the 1,715 kilograms of hashish were seized.
In addition to the drug seizure, authorities also confiscated the inflatable boat, a van, as well as other items including a satellite phone, a GPS navigation device, and multiple mobile phones.
The arrested individuals were brought before the Investigative Court of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, which ordered the provisional detention of all seven suspects.
