SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1st May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, expressed his respect on Wednesday for the decision made by activists of the ‘Canarias se Agota’ group to end their hunger strike. He also defended the measures implemented by his administration to enhance the economic development model on the islands.
“During the demonstration, I mentioned that I myself support many of the demands put forward by the organizers, who were not alone, but represented various groups. I believe that this reflection and initiative for change has come at an opportune moment,” he conveyed to journalists while visiting the ‘Regional Exhibition of Flowers, Plants and Traditional Canarian Crafts’ in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Clavijo considers it essential to embrace change during times of growth and prosperity, and he acknowledged the collective awareness regarding the necessity for transformative actions.
“I think the Canarian method of seeking broad agreements to address significant challenges serves as an example, and I am genuinely proud that in the Canary Islands we can engage in dialogue, negotiations, consensus-building, and rally around crucial matters,” he noted.
