On Monday night, the Tenerife Island Council will relocate the second module of the upcoming Padre Anchieta pedestrian bridge from Santa Cruz to La Laguna. Although this transfer will impact traffic flow, there will be no road closures along the route.
The component in question is 38 meters in length, weighs 60 tons, and will be transported between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, as stated by the island authority.
The truck carrying the module will set off from the East Dock at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, passing through Vía Litoral, Avenida Tres de Mayo, the Juan Amigó de Lara tunnel, TF-5 motorway (where three lanes will be occupied), and the Padre Anchieta link heading north.
The installation of the new segment is scheduled for the end of May, following the arrival of the third and fourth modules to the island, according to the announcement.
The Padre Anchieta pedestrian bridge project will incorporate an 11-module walkway forming a 314-meter ring. Its purpose is to alleviate traffic congestion at the roundabout and enhance pedestrian safety, particularly for students from the University of La Laguna (ULL).
The construction commenced in November 2021, with the building contract awarded to the company Obras Huarte Lain for 8.8 million Euros.
