THE WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE CANARY ISLANDS | Is Rain Expected on Monday in the Canary Islands? Here’s What AEMET Says

Each passing year, climate change is rendering that popular saying of “April showers bring May flowers” obsolete. However, this Saturday a downpour surprised many in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and other islands, leading many to ask: Will it rain this Monday in Canary Islands?

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasts a predominance of cloudy intervals with possible light and occasional rain in the northern areas of the most mountainous islands this Sunday, as well as in the southwest of Tenerife and west of La Palma during midday, as indicated by the meteorological institution.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, cloudy intervals. Elsewhere, mostly clear skies.

Temperatures with slight changes. Moderate northeast wind.

At sea, there will be a north or northeast component force 4 or 5, increasing to 6 further offshore on the west and southeast coasts. Choppy seas rising to rough seas further offshore on the east and west coasts. On the south coast, variable 1 to 4, light breezes, slight swell, or smooth. Northerly or northwesterly swell of 2 to 3 meters decreasing to 1 to 2 meters from midnight onwards.

FORECAST FOR THIS MONDAY BY ISLANDS:

LANZAROTE

[–>

Cloudy intervals. Temperatures with slight changes. Moderate north to northeast wind.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Arrecife 16 23

FUERTEVENTURA

[–>

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Puerto del Rosario 16 23

GRAN CANARIA

[–>

In the north, cloudy intervals with possible light and occasional rain during the first half of the day, clearing up in coastal areas by the afternoon. Elsewhere, mostly clear skies with some convective intervals in the south during midday. Temperatures with slight changes. Moderate north to northeast wind, stronger on the southeast and west slopes, as well as in the mountain peaks, with the possibility of locally very strong gusts in the afternoon.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 18 23

TENERIFE

[–>

Cloudy intervals in the north and west of the island, with possible light and occasional rain, more likely in the north during the first half of the day and in the southwest during midday. Mostly clear skies elsewhere. Temperatures with slight changes. Moderate northeast wind, stronger on the southeast coast and extreme northwest, with the possibility of locally very strong gusts. In central peaks, moderate to strong north winds, with a low chance of very strong gusts in the northeast ridge, around La Esperanza. Sea breezes on the west coast.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Santa Cruz de Tenerife 18 24

In the north, cloudy intervals with possible light and occasional rain during the first half of the day, clearing up in coastal areas by the afternoon. Mostly clear skies elsewhere. Temperatures with slight changes. Moderate northeast wind, with areas of stronger intensity in the mountains and eastern and northwestern slopes, where the possibility of some locally very strong gusts cannot be ruled out.
