A decision was made during the Cabildo de Tenerife plenary session to include two million euros in a global credit budget modification of 20.2 to help alleviate water losses in municipal networks. This allocation corresponds to an amendment from the Socialist Group – although not all of their proposals were accepted, as highlighted by Aarón Afonso, which covered social areas, agro-markets, and housing – even though it was reduced from the original document’s request of five million to two million.
The 20.2 million euros will also be used to implement mobility policies, as explained by the island’s Finance Director, Juan Carlos Pérez Frías. This amount will be added to this year’s budget. Consequently, 12.7 million euros will be allocated for purchasing Titsa buses as an advance payment for those expected to arrive in 2025 as part of the fleet renewal process, which includes the introduction of 250 new vehicles, 70% of which will be hybrid.
The budget modification also includes an allocation of 1.2 million euros for the Natural Products and Agrobiology Bookstore of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and 360,000 euros for the agreement with the Institute of Astrophysics of Canarias (IAC) for the satellite image integration project in the emergency management system.
Additionally, 910,000 euros will be allocated to Tourism of Tenerife for hosting major events on the island, as well as around 124,000 euros for enhancing Casa Sansó (Tegueste) and 116,000 euros for acquiring Casa del Cura in Taganana.

Similarly, the increase includes an allocation of 100,000 euros to provide motorcycles to the Canary Islands Police for patrolling natural areas. Finally, 170,000 euros will support environmental volunteering in coastal and natural area clean-up efforts.
