The Department of Public Works of the Canary Islands Government has urgently announced the initiation of the contracting process for the construction of eleven affordable housing units for public development in La Jurada, located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife.
This initiative, which has set a base bidding budget of 1.64 million euros for the Public Promotion Service of Santa Cruz, is part of Decree Law 1/2024, dated February 19, on urgent housing measures, which specifies a 50% reduction in the legally mandated deadlines for bidding, awarding, and formalizing contracts as detailed by the Executive in a statement released on Friday.
As outlined in the contracting file, the bidding budget will be allocated over three years, with the first instalment earmarked for this year at 471,661 euros; 2025 at 1,051,747 euros; and 2026 at 118,372 euros.
In the year 2026, an additional 10% of the tender cost, equating to 164,178 euros, will need to be retained, bringing the total amount to 1.80 million euros.
Furthermore, this project aims to address the current housing shortage in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, in line with the goals of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, to stimulate the development of officially protected properties.
This new undertaking complements the ongoing renovation and upkeep efforts of the Department of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility on a batch of 41 residences in Granadilla de Abona, with the aim of enhancing the public housing stock of the municipality, the announcement adds.
