Tamaimo will host the Crux24 program, which will take place in celebration of the Cross festival in Santiago del Teide. This event maintains tradition and includes activities designed to educate, entertain, and promote community spirit. From next Monday until the 4th of May, the town will host various complementary events.
The Mayor of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, presented the program yesterday accompanied by the Councilor of Culture, David Quintero, who outlined the activities planned for this edition, as well as the Councilor of Commerce, Germán Jiménez, who discussed the tapas route, in which six catering establishments in the village of Tamaimo will participate.
Emilio Navarro stated, “This event, which involves various areas of the Santiago del Teide City Council, has been very well received by the residents in previous years.” The Mayor hopes to replicate the success, at least.
The display of decorated crosses, the decorated cross competition on facades, and, mainly, the CruxArte Tamaimo event, a route that passes through the squares where the ephemeral exhibition of crosses and compositions by local artists takes place, are the main highlights of this municipal program.
On Monday, the floral creation workshop is scheduled. Led by Andrés Alexander, its purpose is to educate on the basic aspects that allow the development of the main activity of this festival. It will take place at the Social Centre of Tamaimo, between five and seven in the evening.
On the 2nd of May, a visit to the crosses of Los Realejos will take place, starting at four in the afternoon. Prior registration is required to participate in this activity.
On the 3rd of May, the Day of the Cross, the jury will visit the decorated crosses participating in the competition at 10 in the morning, while the inauguration of the decorated crosses exhibition and creations in the different squares is scheduled for six in the evening.
At six in the evening, at Plaza Santa Ana, the decision of the Decorated Cross Contest will be revealed and awards will be presented. Following this, there will be a musical performance by Lola and Javier Linares, Orígenes, as announced in the program yesterday.
The following day, Saturday the 4th of May, CruxArte Tamaimo, an art walk, will take place.
