The water situation in Tenerife remains challenging. Due to the prolonged drought and minimal rainfall, Balten Balsas de Tenerife has announced the commencement of restrictions on irrigation water in various areas of the island, particularly in rural regions.
“The ongoing situation of an extensive long-term drought declared on Tenerife in recent months, more significantly in mid-range areas, has directly impacted the availability of irrigation water reserves at BALTEN, reaching historically low levels. Additionally, spurred by this circumstance, there has been a notable surge in demand for irrigation among farmers during the winter months, aiming to combat exceptionally hot and arid conditions,” the company stated on its website.
