The Spanish Tourism Institute (Turespaña) and Turismo Tenerife have come to an agreement to organise the ‘IV Turespaña Convention’ scheduled for the 1st to 3rd of October at the ‘La Pirámide de Arona’ convention centre in Playa de Las Américas.
The aim of the convention is to provide a platform for Spanish tourist destinations to collaborate with companies offering tourist products and services in Spain. This will promote the establishment of a strong network of relationships, sharing of best practices, and the alignment of common objectives, while also fostering engagement with the private sector.
The main theme of this fourth edition will revolve around the digitalisation of the tourism sector and its application in creating new products and experiences for visitors. It will also focus on enhancing the management models of destinations and companies, ensuring effective sustainability, as reported by Turespaña.
Following the agreement, Turespaña and Turismo Tenerife have commenced the organisation of the event, which is set to bring together over 550 professionals from various tourist destinations and Spanish companies in the sector, physically on the island.
The convention, as outlined in the agreement, will involve working meetings between tourism councillors, destinations, and tourism companies, as well as plenary sessions and thematic discussions.
Notably, the official kick-off will take place on Wednesday, 2nd October this year, with the industry’s bilateral meetings with the advisors scheduled the day before, on Tuesday, 1st October.
The Turespaña Convention primarily targets management and promotional entities of Spanish tourist destinations, companies, associations providing tourist products and services, as well as representatives from public and private organisations, universities, and technology firms linked to tourism.
In addition to the business sessions at the La Pirámide de Arona Conference Centre, Turismo Tenerife will develop a programme to showcase the tourism offerings of the region with a digitalisation and sustainability focus covering economic, social, and environmental aspects.
Tenerife was selected to host the IV Turespaña Convention in October 2023 during the third edition in San Sebastián, following a call for applications in March of that year, which attracted 20 destinations.
Tenerife was chosen due to its standing as one of the world’s most successful destinations that is transitioning its tourism economy towards a future model that is digital and sustainable.
Seizing the opportunity of having foreign tourism advisors at the convention, Turespaña will conduct its internal planning and work sessions in the municipality of Adeje.
