The Granadilla de Abona City Council, through the Municipal Public Services and Works Department, will carry out the construction of the Magallanes interpretation centre before the end of the year. The estimated budget is 440,000 Euros in the initial phase, while in subsequent stages, a new leisure, recreational, and sports area will be built, which will include the municipality’s future skatepark. This space also includes the creation of a new playground, a calisthenics area, a dog park, and a small green lung, which will feature various native species and flora.
The mayor, Jennifer Miranda, and the councillor for Municipal Public Services and Works, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, visited the Sotavento urban park where the conditioning works are scheduled to begin in the coming months. Miranda explains that, with the execution of these projects, the commitment to the residents of Sotavento is fulfilled, “who will soon be able to enjoy a new park that we want to bring to life this area of the municipality.” In addition, the mayor points out that the intention is to continue improving and regenerating not only this area but others in the vicinity, “with the aim of providing our citizens with quality public spaces.”

On the other hand, Councillor Marcos Antonio Rodríguez argues “that this project will pave the way for the construction of three urban parks of the same characteristics in the rest of the municipality, with the aim of creating more green lungs and more leisure and recreational areas for our residents and visitors.” Municipal representatives point out that this initiative is part of the Government’s planning for the entire term.
