SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 19th April (EUROPA PRESS) –

The developer of La Tejita Hotel (Tenerife) has highlighted the presence of “misinformation” and “manipulation” from the opposing group regarding the project’s legality.

This clarification was made in a statement released on Friday, emphasizing that the ongoing construction on their property has obtained a favourable ruling from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC).

Emphasising on the “misinformation and manipulation disseminated by the opposing group regarding the project’s legality,” they mentioned that despite references to outdated documents, all current rulings have favoured the project, with the works being fully compliant with all necessary legal requirements.

Addressing the situation, the company’s representatives reiterated that “the construction works being conducted possess all the urban and sectoral authorisations required for execution.”

“The TSJC rulings – they affirm – clearly state that the planning permits and urban licenses were granted in accordance with the demarcation of the current maritime-terrestrial zone. As per the Supreme Court’s ruling, Third Chamber, Section 5, dated 6th May 2002, any subsequent demarcation alterations should not impact previously granted licenses,”

Meanwhile, the developer stressed that the project has been designed to blend harmoniously with the surroundings, with plans to construct fewer beds than the maximum allowance. Particularly, the permitted three-floor height on the front line has been significantly reduced to just one. The development is expected to create almost 200 direct jobs and over 300 indirect employment opportunities.

Finally, it was explained that the Viqueira Group acquired the urbanization where the hotel premises stand in 1994, engaging in various initiatives over the years to create a community that accommodates more than 1,000 families, supports over 30 small businesses, and has provided over 18,000 square meters of green and recreational spaces for public use.
