The Insular Active Housing Plan 2024 now has a budget of 11.2 million Euros, after the Island Government Council approved the inclusion of 6.2 million Euros in addition to the initial five million Euros planned. This funding aims to provide 300 homes for citizens under social rental.
This is an initiative that facilitates municipalities – with a maximum of one million – to acquire land, mostly from completed or unfinished developments. The goal is to alleviate one of the main issues for residents of Tenerife: the scarcity of social housing for low-income individuals.
The Island Government also made agreements to boost the construction of socio-sanitary infrastructures to meet the demand on the Island. The Government Council approved yesterday a contribution of around five million Euros to the Insular Institute of Social and Sociosanitary Care (IASS) for the construction of the Abades Sociosanitary Centre in Arico. Additionally, they accepted the transfer of two plots from the La Laguna City Council to create a socio-sanitary centre for elderly people with disabilities in Los Baldíos and another one for dependent seniors in Camino de La Hornera.
The contribution to the agreement with the IAC for the Support for RDI actions in the IACTec cooperation space project amounts to 1.7 million Euros for the period 2024-2027. This will be used to finance the operating, supply, and maintenance expenses of the IACTec building.
Fifede will receive 300,000 Euros for the Neighbourhoods for Employment 2024 project, bringing the total contribution from the Island Board for this year to 4.2 million Euros.
The Island Government Council also approved the Training Plan for the Staff of the Island Council of Tenerife for 2024-2025, whose main objective is to provide a quality, close, and efficient service by improving job performance in general and public service provision.
In the Tourism sector, the agreement with the Arafo City Council to carry out the Conditioning of Access to Lima Beach project received approval. The project, with an investment of approximately 426,000 Euros, is part of the Tenerife and the Sea programme and aims to enhance the coastal environment of Arafo.
The refurbishment of the modules of the Museum of Science and the Cosmos will have 100,000 Euros, making the total amount for this year 400,000 Euros. This investment will allow for the renovation of elements such as the planetarium, reception, rest area, and various modules.

In the Sports sector, the decision-making body of the Island Government approved the Tenerife Sports Strategic Plan 2024 yesterday. The document includes both strategic axes and actions aimed at adapting the sports system of Tenerife to the new framework, new demands, and objectives.
