Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gearing up to select the Queen of the May Festival and the Children’s Magician and Illusionist, in distinct galas set to take place on April 26th and 27th, respectively, at Plaza de La Candelaria. The Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, along with the Councilor for Festivities, Javier Caraballero, welcomed the participants in both categories yesterday at the city council’s plenary hall. The councilor emphasised “that these festivities hold utmost significance in our city, marking the celebration of its 530 years of establishment.”
In addition, Javier Caraballero announced that the festivities are scheduled to kick off tomorrow at 8:30 p.m., with a proclamation by filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
Following the random drawing of the participants’ sequence for both competitions, in the Children’s Magician category, the parade will be led by Yaneisy García (aged 7), representing Rebotados Sofocados; Julia Rodríguez (aged 5), for Diablos Locos; Gara Suárez (aged 8), for Mamel’s; Laura Mora García (aged 8), from Murga Infantil El Cabito; Karen Ramos (aged 8), from the Factoría del Carnaval Cultural Association; Tanía Pérez (aged 8), representing Lourdes Plasencia; Carlota Medina (aged 9), for Mátic Eventos; Daniela Hernández (aged 8), for Guachipanduzitos; Sara Corimbo (aged 9), attired by Cristo Rodríguez; Carla Rodríguez (aged 6), for the Carricitos; Isabel Ruiz (aged 5), for Chaxiraxi; and Martina Benítez (aged 10), for Salsa Canaria.
As for the Queen candidates, Laura Álamo will open the procession, representing AA.VV. The Drago; Vanessa Rodríguez for the AA.VV. The Era and The Wheat; Texenery Valiente, from Murga Infantil El Cabito; Yashira Díaz, from Salsa Canaria; Alicia González, for the AA.VV. Los Pedacillos-Suculum; Laura Nazareth Reyes, from Sabor Isleño; Yohana Padrón, by AA.VV. Saint Gerard; Noemi Díaz, for Restaurante La Hierbita; Alexia Fernández, for Murga Las Marchilongas; and Alba Rodríguez for AA.VV. Satellite City of Santa María del Mar.
