The Royal Armed Forces of Morocco announced on Sunday the rescue of 118 migrants, including three minors and nine women, off the coast of the city of Tarfaya in the south of the country. They were spread across two boats supposedly heading towards the Canary Islands.
A patrol from the Royal Navy assisted the two boats, located 19 kilometers and 22 kilometers off Tarfaya, respectively, according to a statement from the Armed Forces published on their X social media account, formerly Twitter.
[–>Three boats with over 200 migrant individuals on board arrived last Sunday at the islands of Tenerife and El Hierro after being intercepted by Maritime Rescue several days ago after departing from a point on the Sub-Saharan coast, as reported by Maritime Rescue sources.
One of the boats contacted emergency services providing different vague positions, first 35 miles from Los Cristianos and then 13 miles from Punta Rasca, claiming to see mountains and a large white ship.

The Maritime Rescue Centre in Tenerife started the search, and the Las Palmas Maritime Control Centre joined. Maritime controllers mobilised the Helimer 206 helicopter and alerted the ‘Volcán de Tirajana’ ferry, which confirmed sighting the boat at 17:20.
[–>At that moment, it was instructed to stay in the area, and the Helimer 206 was sent to the position, where the Alpheraz rescue boat also headed. The helicopter spotted the boat and reported that it was stationary, thanking the ‘Volcán de Tirajana’ for their assistance, which then resumed its journey.
