SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th of April. (EUROPA PRESS) –
An individual, for whom further details have not been disclosed, suffered moderate injuries while trekking in the Erques gorge, located in the municipality of Güímar, in Tenerife, as per reports from the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1- 1-2.
The incident took place at approximately 1:20 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operational centre received an alert indicating that a hiker required medical aid following an accident where a large stone crushed their foot.
The emergency services were promptly mobilised by 1-1-2, including the rescue helicopter operated by the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands; personnel from the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium; a medical team from the SUC ambulance service; Local Police, and Civil Guard
The firefighters and rescuers aboard the GES helicopter reached the injured individual and airlifted them to Tenerife North Airport. Upon landing, medical staff from the SUC ambulance attended to the injured hiker and transported them to Ntra. Sra. de Candelaria University Hospital. The police authorities provided support throughout the operation.
