The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has granted a contract to Acciona Construction SA and Acciona Medio Ambiente SA for the maintenance, conservation, supply, and installation of urban furniture in the capital. The joint venture secured €8 million for a period of three years to revamp various infrastructures and enhance resident coexistence.
The Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, stated, “This contract, crucial for the city, was swiftly awarded to ensure the installation and maintenance of urban furniture in the city are guaranteed until 2026.” The upgrades will include improving urban benches, chairs, children’s play areas, fountains, public toilets, and outdoor sports areas.
Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Public Services overseeing the new street furniture, explained that “over €5 million of the contract amount is allocated to regular maintenance, with the remainder for investments.” He emphasized that this contract is one of the significant ones in the Public Services sector, which will showcase Santa Cruz with renovated and well-maintained furniture, enhancing resident coexistence.
The City Council deemed it imperative to expedite the contract process as the previous one concluded in October 2023. The incumbent company is currently providing the service.
