Residents of the lagoon neighbourhood of The Verdellada have voiced their disappointment with urban line 206 of Titsa, affectionately known as “Cyril“. The complaints range from broken seats to black smoke emissions, with passengers even getting wet when it rains, as reported by the local magazine, The Green.
The Los Verdeños Neighborhood Association has made a formal request to the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, seeking support in urging Titsa to replace the ageing buses on the route with one of the new vehicles recently introduced on the island for the “La Cirila” line.
With nearly 60,000 passengers recorded in 2023, the residents highlight that the buses on this route have been operating for almost two decades. They lament the decline of “La Cirila” from being the pride of public transport in La Laguna to a dilapidated service.
Regular passengers of the line have reported numerous issues, such as water splashing into the bus when passing through puddles and visible cracks in the road surface. The once-celebrated transport service has now turned into what some describe as a “walking junkyard.”
