It appears that with each passing day, more hoteliers and restaurateurs from Tenerife are choosing Gran Canaria to expand their operations regionally.
In Tenerife, a new interpretation of guachinche has emerged, known as ‘Modern Guachinche’, blending traditional Canarian cuisine with a touch of innovation and offering great value for money.
While purists may argue that these establishments should not technically be labelled as guachinches – generally defined as places serving a limited menu of dishes paired with the owner’s homemade wine – the truth is they have gained popularity, particularly in recent times.

Having made a significant impact on the market in Tenerife, some owners of ‘Modern Guachinches’ have now expanded to the neighbouring island. After the recent introduction of San Mateo’s Guachinche The Manicomio, the spotlight is now on the opening of Guachinche El Abollado.
Besides this venture, they already operate similar restaurants in Tenerife, including a noteworthy one known as ‘The Stove’. They have teased their next launch in Telde via Instagram @guachincheelabollado.
What sets them apart is their dedication to providing high-quality service along with an array of delectable dishes that will undoubtedly excite the taste buds of Gran Canarians eager to explore the gastronomy of Tenerife.
