Two individuals have been taken into custody by the Civil Guard for reportedly thieving from stores and warehouses in the south of Tenerife, specifically in San Miguel de Abona, where electronic devices, metal tables and chairs, as well as copper coils amounting to 30,000 Euros were stolen. Subsequently, they attempted to vend these stolen items in various establishments.
The Civil Guard announced on Thursday in a statement that, under Operation Sariq, they apprehended two individuals as suspects in at least seven forceful thefts of items and around 3,000 Euros in cash.
The operation was initiated following complaints lodged by the proprietors of the affected establishments, primarily situated in Las Chafiras and Amarilla Golf.
During the probe, the Civil Guard officers confirmed that the modus operandi employed by the accused was consistent – always during the night, taking advantage of the closure of the stores and warehouses, they forcibly entered by breaking padlocks and door locks, and once inside, stole anything they could lay their hands on.
They managed to enter one establishment with the keys, which had been stolen due to confusion when the premises were open to the public.
Following numerous investigative efforts, the Civil Guard officers identified, located, and arrested the alleged culprits with the cooperation of the San Miguel de Abona Local Police.
The detainees, along with the evidence collected, have been handed over to the Granadilla de Abona Guard Investigation Court.
