SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5th April. (EUROPA PRESS) –

On Friday, the Council of Tenerife introduced a new phase of the ‘Capacita’ project, aimed at enhancing employability, benefiting 800 individuals with approximately 1,600 hours of training spread across 65 training sessions.

So far, 39 courses have been offered, including three that have already been completed with the participation of 100 individuals.

The event was attended by Efraín Medina, the Minister of Employment and Education at the Council of Tenerife, and Rosario Hernández, the Vice-Rector for Students at the University of La Laguna, as reported by the Council.

“This training scheme underlines the Council of Tenerife’s commitment to enhancing the employability of students and individuals with higher education qualifications, preparing them for a competitive and demanding job market, assisting them in acquiring the necessary skills and abilities to improve their job prospects and contribute to the region’s economic growth. The aim is for these individuals to gain new skills to enhance their professional qualifications and make them more competitive in the job sector. All of this aims to boost their chances of securing suitable employment based on their level of qualification,” explained Efraín Medina.

Rosario Hernández emphasised that the programme “demonstrates the commitment of both the Council of Tenerife and the University of La Laguna to enhancing the employability of young people in the Canaries. The collaboration between the two entities is longstanding and fluid, serving as a great example.”

The ‘Capacita’ project is financially supported by the Council of Tenerife as part of employment initiatives within the Medi and Fdcan programmes. It is administered by the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna, aimed at improving the employability of graduates or those pursuing a higher degree.

The programme combines the opportunity to receive personalised career assessment, guidance on job hunting, and training in skills not typically covered in formal education.

Eligibility requirements for the programme include being a student or graduate of Higher Education; being registered with the Public Employment Service as an unemployed job seeker, pre-employment services applicant, or seeking employment improvement; and demonstrating residency on the island of Tenerife for at least one year.

ENHANCE YOUR SKILLS

The objective is for individuals to acquire new skills to enrich their professional qualifications and boost their competitiveness in the job market, thereby increasing their chances of finding employment matching their skill level.

This initiative will also help promote the growth of the job market and the creation of specialised roles.

This is particularly significant in the current landscape where job opportunities are declining and companies are seeking increasingly qualified personnel.

The training offerings encompass Audiovisuals, including Spanish Sign Language; Video games and graphic design (2D, 3D, and 4D); Construction modelling; Artificial intelligence; A3 business management software; International language certifications; and personal skills, which are growing in importance and demand.
