SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4th April. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Two individuals have been apprehended by Civil Guard officers from the Investigation Department of the Main Post in Granadilla de Abona, as they are suspected of being involved in at least seven burglaries with forced entry that took place in commercial establishments and industrial storage facilities in the San Miguel de Abona region.
The operation was initiated following complaints lodged by the proprietors of the affected establishments, predominantly situated in the towns of Las Chafiras and Amarilla Golf.
Throughout the investigative process, law enforcement officers were able to confirm that the modus operandi employed by the suspects was consistent; usually at night when the shops and storage facilities were closed, they forcibly gained access by breaking locks and padlocks on entry doors. Once inside, they proceeded to pilfer anything of value that could be subsequently sold for monetary gain, including electronic gadgets and various metal furnishings like tables and chairs.
Additionally, they made off with copper coils valued at 30,000 euros, which they attempted to sell at establishments specialising in such purchases. Furthermore, they pocketed around 3,000 euros in cash, as disclosed by the Civil Guard in an official statement.
In one instance, they utilised keys stolen during a previous break-in to gain entry to the premises.
Hence, leveraging the information and evidence gathered during the investigation, including extensive surveillance, stakeouts, and scrutiny of CCTV footage from certain establishments, the officers successfully identified, traced, and detained the suspected culprits in collaboration with the Local Police of San Miguel de Abona.
The detainees, along with the evidence collected, have been remanded to the Guard Investigation Court of Granadilla de Abona.
