An individual driving a vehicle was detected speeding at 128 km/h on the San Andrés highway in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The maximum speed limit on this road is 50 km/h, resulting in the driver being charged with an alleged speeding offence.

This driver had previously faced a suspension of their driving license between July 2023 and February 2024. Shortly after regaining their license, they were caught speeding at 00:23 a.m. on March 22. The speed was recorded as they were traveling southwards from Las Teresitas towards Avenida de Anaga in the direction of the Valleseco neighbourhood, as detailed by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.

The local Police officers operating the traffic radar service were responsible for detecting the vehicle traveling at 128 km/h on the aforementioned urban highway with a speed limit of 50 km/h.

The driver of the Mercedes C220 vehicle was not found at the time of the incident. However, he was informed via phone about committing a crime against road safety, with speeds exceeding 60 km/h being punishable on urban roads.

The offender visited the traffic radar service facilities on April 2 to admit to the offence and has since been made available to the relevant judicial authorities.
