The Tenerife Island Council has announced the seven finalists of the XIII International Young Designers Contest held as part of the Tenerife International Fashion Fair, scheduled to take place on June 6th at the Tenerife Exhibition Centre. The jury’s deliberation took place today (Thursday) at the Plenary Hall of the Island Corporation and was attended by the President of the Council, Rosa Dávila, the Employment and Education Councillor, Efraín Medina, and the Youth Councillor, Serafín Mesa.
Rosa Dávila emphasized the significance of the Contest as it represents “a great opportunity to showcase the talent of young designers and provide a platform for entrepreneurship for those who wish to enter the textile and fashion industry. The island once again becomes the epicentre of young design on an international scale.”
Efraín Medina highlighted the quality of the submissions, “which made the jury’s decision very challenging” and mentioned that on this occasion, over 65 applications were received from numerous countries such as Spain, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, and Brazil. “From the Council, we are committed to continuing our work to promote this vital sector, as evidenced by the recent launch of the Tenerife Fashion Strategic Plan 2024-2027, focusing on three key pillars: excellence in design and production, fostering local talent, and promoting sustainability and international projection.”
