The young judokas and cadets of the Judo Club Costa Teguise are in for an exciting weekend as sixteen of them, representing Lanzarote, are participating in the 2024 Canary Islands Children’s and Cadets Judo Championship.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the Miguel Ángel Díaz Molina Pavilion in Puerto de la Cruz, on the island of Tenerife.
The Lanzarote team will depart on the same Saturday, the day of the competition, returning to the island later that day around 20:30.
The sixteen judokas from the Costa Teguise Judo Club Teguise will be led by two of their coaches, Alejandro Medina and Mercedes Doblado. They are heading to the Tenerife competition after securing their spots at the 2024 Insular Judo League School Games held at the Lanzarote Sports City Pavilion last Friday and previously, by taking part in the Canary Islands team at the “XVI Trofeo Cidade de Santiago” in Santiago de Compostela.

The club’s president, Antonio Ramírez, wants to “congratulate the judokas from the Teguise club who are now ready to give their all in the season’s main goal for young talents, the Canary Islands Championship in Tenerife. Wishing them the best of luck as they have prepared hard for this moment. I am convinced they will enjoy it and will return with heavier suitcases due to the medals they will achieve on the island of Tenerife in honour of Lanzarote and their club, the Costa Teguise Judo Club.”
