The La Laguna City Council, in collaboration with the Autonomous Sports Organization, is gearing up to celebrate the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace on Saturday, April 6. The event will be held at the El Tranvía multifunctional plaza in La Cuesta, running from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Attendees are in for a treat with a wide range of leisure activities, traditional native sports, and various disciplines—all completely free of charge.
Badel Albelo, the president of the Autonomous Sports Organization of La Laguna, stressed that “this event highlights the significance we attribute to sport as a means to adopt healthy lifestyles and reinforce values like teamwork, discipline, and dedication.” The mayor also extended an invitation to the citizens of La Laguna to join in and relish the “blend of sports, wellness, and family in the scenic setting of La Cuesta.” Interestingly, this area benefits from the decentralization of sports activities—an objective set by the City Council to invigorate all corners of the municipality.
Football, basketball, boxing, table tennis, skateboarding, dance, Canarian wrestling, chess, and the stick game are just a few of the sports on offer at this celebration. Furthermore, attendees can delve into a virtual reality zone, a FIFA Zone, and enjoy a game of giant billiards as stand-out attractions. The event will also feature dynamic workshops and sessions of Zumba, GAP, BodyFit, and Work Trainer to keep everyone energized throughout the day.
In addition to the physical activities, nutrition and physiotherapy experts will be on hand to provide guidance in these areas, all accompanied by Marcha FM providing music and interviews with event participants. To add to the excitement, there will be a food truck serving up fitness-friendly products, enhancing the sports agenda with an enticing culinary selection.
