SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1st April. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife has spearheaded the creation and endorsement of a Mobility Scheme within the Anaga Rural Park that caters to the objectives and necessities of the local population. Subsequently, in partnership with the state-owned entity Titsa and drawing insights from the aforementioned Scheme, there will be a push to survey the demand for both urban and interurban transport routes in Anaga. Consequently, any findings will prompt or advocate for heightened frequency, adjusted timetables, or revised routes in order to enhance the existing service in the region.
Concurrently, the Cabildo will formally request the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council to conduct an investigation and, if viable, implement an on-call public transport system for residents of the settlements within Anaga, in collaboration with the Cabildo.
Furthermore, there will be an appeal to the Ministry of the Interior to amplify the presence of Civil Traffic Guard officers. Meanwhile, the Cabildo will persist in fostering cooperation with other public bodies to ensure the inclusion of the Canarian Police and Local Police from respective municipalities during periods of heightened visitor numbers.
The Cabildo deems it paramount for tangible steps to be taken towards enhancing accessibility and mobility within Anaga, thereby securing sustainable and fair progress for all inhabitants of this natural setting. A key aspect of these steps involves an evaluation of public transport in the area, a primary objective of the Mobility Scheme for the Park, achieved through an examination of supply and demand to deliver services that align with actual requirements, and if necessary, augment them with supplementary measures.
The ultimate goal is to champion sustainable travel within the region, a move that not only addresses traffic congestion and carbon footprints but also fosters social and economic inclusivity for all communities, regardless of their geographic limits.
Enhancing mobility forms a central component of the Anaga Massif Biosphere Reserve’s 2022-2026 II Action Plan, formulated subsequent to an evaluation of its progress during the initial phase and a participatory dialogue involving citizens, stakeholders, key sectors, and administrative bodies responsible for overseeing the Biosphere Reserve.
