The machinery at the Costa Martiánez tourist complex, located in Puerto de la Cruz, was operating at full capacity yesterday in order to welcome visitors back to the most popular pools in the Canary Islands. Renata and Katrina, both hailing from Hamburg, Germany, arrived half an hour early and were the first to enjoy the fully reopened facilities of the Grand Lake, following the extensive renovations.
The mayor, Marco González, alongside the Tourism councillor, Roberto Medina, and the complex’s staff, officially inaugurated the revamped facilities after the renovation works. This marked the largest ever investment solely funded by the municipality, totalling an estimated 1.3 million Euros. The upgrades also ensure a more efficient use of energy in preserving the city’s most iconic installation, originally designed by César Manrique, the internationally renowned artist from Lanzarote.
The Agua Volcano once again showcases an emblematic sight of tourism in the Canary Islands, set within the complex that also includes a Historic Garden designated as a Cultural Interest Site (BIC), providing visitors with a truly unique experience that has been cherished by millions of tourists and locals since its opening in 1977.
