La Laguna and Tegueste town councils have reached an agreement to submit a collaborative proposal to the Tenerife Cabildo, specifically to the Department of Natural Environmentso that the island corporation takes on the responsibility for the renovation and improvement of the road leading to the natural area of Mesa Mota.
The councilor of Works and Infrastructure in La Laguna, Ángel Chinea, and the mayor of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena, have revealed that the joint request of both local authorities will be processed through La Laguna City Council, along with a detailed project and budget, to streamline approval and commence the project promptly, as previously agreed with the Cabildo, which has offered to undertake the work.
This action is deemed “essential” due to the current poor condition of the road resulting from wear and tear over time and the significant traffic it experiences, particularly during weekends, as specified by Chinea.
“The La Laguna City Council has implemented various improvement initiatives in recent years through different departments to enhance the environment and expand the rural leisure offerings in this iconic lagoon area. Now, what we require is to enhance the connectivity to ease access for our residents, with all necessary assurances,” explained the councilor.
On the other hand, Tegueste’s mayor, Ana Rosa Mena, highlighted that Mesa Mota is “an area with great potential that needs to be in a suitable condition for the residents of both municipalities to use and enjoy.”
