SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Administration of the Canary Islands, under the General Directorate of Emergencies, has revised the wind pre-alert status previously declared for La Palma, El Hierro, and Tenerife, and has now extended it to include La Gomera and Gran Canaria. This status will remain in effect as of 3:00 p.m. today, Thursday, 28th March.
This determination is based on the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and other relevant sources, following the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
Today, Thursday, there will be moderate west and northwest winds with strong zones, particularly affecting Teide; there is a likelihood of gusts reaching and surpassing 60-80 km/h in high areas and midlands of the northeast of El Hierro, peaks and midlands of the east of La Palma, and in the central summit and the Dorsal Mountain Range of Tenerife.
Additionally, there is a westward wind anticipated to impact mainly the midlands and summits in La Gomera, and particularly the midlands in Gran Canaria.
Residents are advised to heed the self-protection guidance provided by the General Directorate of Emergencies.
