The Tenerife’s Council has closed the Montaña Blanca-Pico Teide, Telesforo Bravo, Mirador de la Fortaleza, and Mirador de Pico Viejo trails, located in the Teide National Park, due to the presence of ice. This decision comes after recent precipitation has led to the accumulation of ice and snow on these four routes, posing a risk to individuals. Consequently, trail number 7, Montaña Blanca-Pico, is closed from the top of Montaña Blanca to the junction between 7 and 11, Mirador de la Fortaleza. Additionally, numbers 10, Telesforo Bravo, 11, Mirador de la Fortaleza, and 12, Mirador de Pico Viejo, are completely shut down. This measure will remain in place until safety conditions improve on the paths in the upper part of the Teide-Pico Viejo stratovolcano. The ban does not apply to individuals with a valid mountain federative card and the appropriate equipment, nor to companies and individuals registered in the Active Tourism Register of the Government of the Canary Islands engaged in hiking, mountaineering, and trekking on the island of Tenerife, accompanying groups of up to a maximum of 15 people per guide.
