SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 26th March (EUROPA PRESS) –

The presentation of the ‘Cook Music Fest’ took place on Tuesday by the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez. After a three-year absence, the festival is making a comeback in the capital from the 19th of July in the port area and will showcase Maluma and Aitana as the main attractions.

The addition of the recipient of over 37 international music awards complements the previously announced performance by Aitana. She is making a return to the stage following her successful tour through Latin America with the #alphaTourLATAM, where she has been attracting significant crowds including at the National Auditorium of Mexico.

Joining the mayor at the presentation were the Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alfonso Cabello; the first vice president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Lope Afonso; the president of the Port Authority, Pedro Suárez and the event’s promoter, José María de la Cova.

During his address, the mayor highlighted the event as part of a “strategy” aimed at drawing a large audience to the capital, emphasizing that it signifies a commitment to music, culture, and the city’s economy.

“Taking place in the port area is a novelty for us. Over the past few months, we have benefitted from the collaboration of the Port of Tenerife. Without this collaboration, events of this scale that blend different sectors seamlessly would be unattainable,” added Bermúdez.

José María de la Cova, the event’s promoter, expressed gratitude to the various authorities for their support in organizing “a festival that has progressively expanded in its format, attendance, and artist lineup over the years. This year marks one of the most ambitious editions in terms of the lineup, with Maluma and Aitana headlining.”

The head of the Port Authority, Pedro Suárez, emphasised the collaboration with the City Council and highlighted the significance for the port in hosting events of this nature that contribute to the growth of Santa Cruz, in addition to the logistical importance of an event of such magnitude.

“The blend of culture and tourism is a winning formula. When combined with gastronomy, it enables us to promote a burgeoning subsector of our economy linked to values such as the preservation of local products. We are particularly pleased with the continued alliance we maintain with Tenerife’s capital,” underlined Lope Afonso during his speech.

The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alfonso Cabello, stated that “The Canary Islands require top-tier, quality content to remain competitive as a mature international destination.”

CULINARY DELIGHTS

He further mentioned the necessity for the islands to “continue generating increased employment and opportunities linked to the tourism sector year after year, particularly in the capital of Tenerife,” while anticipating full hotel occupancy in the metropolitan area.

In addition to the confirmed artists for the weekend, event promoter José María de la Cova revealed that another Colombian, Ryan Castro, and the Catalan artist Lía Kaly will also feature.

The festival’s traditional day dedicated to salsa, son, bachata, and merengue, scheduled for the 20th of July, will include performances by Olga Tañón, Elvis Crespo, Jerry Rivera, and Gilberto Santa Rosa, with the addition of the Puerto Rican-American singer Victor Manuelle, renowned as ‘El Sonero de la Juventud’.

‘Cook Music Fest’ is not merely a music festival; the entertainment and culinary offerings hold significant prominence.

The port area, encompassing the entire esplanade, will host a fair featuring attractions such as a Ferris wheel and over fifteen high-quality gastronomic stalls, including ten authentic restaurants like Pedro Nel specialising in Argentine empanadas. La Relinda, along with five food trucks, will also be present.
