The Tenerife Cabildo has announced the reopening of access routes to the Teide National Park from La Esperanza (TF-24) and La Orotava (TF-21). These routes were closed on Saturday morning due to icy patches on the road.
The closure on TF-21 spanned from kilometre 16 (Aguamansa) to 43 (Cable Car), while on TF-24 it was from 24 (Los Loros crossing) to the end.
Despite the reopening, the Cabildo advises the public to avoid accessing the peak areas of the island and engaging in outdoor activities.
Since Friday, the Tenerife Island Emergency Plan (PEIN) has been activated preventively due to the rain alert declared by the Government of the Canary Islands on the island, which was activated on Saturday at noon. The pre-alert for winds and snow in summit areas is still in effect.
Tenerife, like the entire Canary Islands, is experiencing the effects of a Dana, resulting in significant rainfall in some areas, a notable temperature drop on the summits, storms, strong winds, and the first snowfall of the year on Teide.
Furthermore, the forecast indicates that Saturday will be the day of maximum instability.
Additionally, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura are under an orange warning for rain, while the others are under a yellow warning.
