The integrity of CEIP Toscal-Longuera, located in Los Realejos, is secure, providing students with a safe environment. This assurance was provided during a meeting held yesterday, attended by families, school management, AMPA representatives, as well as the councillors of Education and Social Welfare, José David Cabrera and Luz Pilar García, and experts from the City Council’s Works department and the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.
In the meeting, the General Director of Infrastructure and Equipment affirmed the stability of the building, dispelling any immediate concerns of collapse that had surfaced on social media, causing worry among parents.
However, as the document “is signed by a politician,” the AMPA is awaiting the delivery of a technical report certifying the building’s stability, as promised during the previous session. They have assured that this report will be provided in the first half of April.
Following the meeting, attended by numerous parents, the two phases of upcoming works were outlined. These works are scheduled to commence this summer and continue into 2025, ensuring that the school’s activities can proceed without disruption or the need for student relocations.
The Education Councillor pledged to keep families informed and convene further meetings as necessary to provide updates on the progress of these works.
“We are perplexed by the lack of prior communication and response to our letter from 2022. At this point, we can only place our trust in them and wait,” stated the AMPA.
