SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22nd March (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Cabildo, in partnership with the Tenerife municipalities, is championing the Island Social Tourism Programme, set to benefit approximately 1,100 individuals from all corners of the island.
For this year, a total of 804,000 Euros will be assigned for the implementation of this programme, with the Cabildo contributing 34%, 33% to be borne by each participating municipal council, while the selected beneficiaries from each local entity will provide the remaining 33%, as stated in a release by the corporation.
The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, conducted a working session on Friday with representatives from the municipalities involved in the programme. During the meeting, she elaborated that “the aim of this initiative is to enable groups at a particular risk of social exclusion to access recreation and culture from an inclusive standpoint.”
This programme is part of a cooperation agreement inked between the Cabildo and the island’s municipalities. It focuses on “joint efforts to enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals with limited means, by engaging them in activities that foster connections with new environments, broaden social networks and cultural understanding, boost skills and motivation, and promote social interactions and harmony.”
Fumero emphasised that “during this excursion, where the participants will travel to Cantabria, they will be accompanied by support staff who will offer assistance and companionship.”
