Annan Mohamed is a Palestinian child residing in Gaza with family in Tenerife who urgently needs treatment for his illness to save his life. His relatives on the island are seeking help through donations on the crowdfunding platform.
Annan, a three-year-old boy, lives in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian city suffering a catastrophe from attacks by Israel, which have caused over 30,000 deaths, many of them civilians. After his birth, he contracted meningitis which affected his brain and led to a stroke that resulted in paralysis on the right side of his limbs.
With the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Annan does not receive any medication or medical supervision, and his health condition worries his family. His only solution to receive the necessary treatments is to leave Palestine.

Some of his family members are Canarians residing in Tenerife. Along with the Puente Humano association, of which they are also part, they are raising funds through a crowdfunding page. The organization was created in 2007 with the gathering of people willing to advocate for human rights under the motto of “building peace bridges, breaking borders, and eliminating prejudices.” Puente Humano informs on social media about the child’s critical health condition, which worsens every day.
The association is supported by the Palestinian community in the Canary Islands. This collective shows solidarity with Annan’s situation and Palestine, receiving support from the islanders. This solidarity has been reflected over the past months with the organization of demonstrations where different groups unite with a common focus: the fight for human rights and peace.
Ismael Nimri, one of the child’s relatives residing on the island, mentioned that a family member from Gaza contacted him to express concern about Annan. This plea for help sparked a campaign they are trying to raise awareness of on social media and with the support of the Gran Canaria Island Council. The situation is “serious,” he comments. The call also informed Nimri that they “cannot reach the doctor.”

Annan Mohamed underwent surgery and received treatment for an extended period in hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank. He now receives medical supervision at home. The medical assistance at his healthcare facility no longer exists. The hospital where he was being treated was disabled after being attacked by Israel starting last October.
This is the Al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital, the only hospital in the Gaza Strip that provided specialized care for children in treating tumours, cancers, and dialysis. Ultimately, the medical centre ended up in ruins after a three-day attack by Israeli tanks. Medical supplies and facilities were severely affected.
The hopes of his family rest on obtaining the funds they need to leave the Gaza Strip for Egypt. There, he will receive the medical attention he requires.
