SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21st March (EUROPA PRESS) –

Today, on Thursday, the Tenerife Fairgrounds hosted the ‘Talent Attraction’ job fair, with the participation of 3,000 individuals. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Cabildo’s president, Rosa Dávila; the Minister of Employment, Education, and Youth, Efraín Medina; the Minister of Industry, Commerce, Primary Sector, and Animal Welfare, Manuel Fernandez; the Deputy Counselor of the Canary Islands Government Presidency, Alfonso Cabello, and the provincial head of the Spanish Red Cross, Heliodoro González.

Rosa Dávila commended the work carried out by the Canary Islands Foundation for Training, Employment, and Business Development (Fifede) and the Red Cross in organizing a job fair that “stands out as the best in the Canary Islands in terms of employment opportunities. It serves as a space conducive to creating job prospects, fostering direct interactions between the academic and professional worlds, because, from the Cabildo of Tenerife, we strive to collaborate across all sectors towards a shared goal: employment creation”.

Efraín Medina expressed gratitude to the Red Cross for their efforts in coordinating the event and highlighted the initiative’s importance in “reaching out to those actively seeking employment. With over 3,000 registrations, 70 companies, and 15 employment-related entities participating, this event underscores its significance,”

Manuel Fernández underscored the significance of hosting such initiatives and stated that for the Tenerife Fairgrounds, “it is an honour to be considered once again for an event that addresses one of Tenerife’s major challenges – employment. We gladly provide our facilities for companies to engage with job seekers.”

Alfonso Cabello pointed out that initiatives like this fair, “exemplify the commendable partnership between the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Red Cross, the Government of the Canary Islands, and the Third Sector and training entities of the autonomous community. Thus, the regional government wholeheartedly supports, promotes, and continues efforts in dual training and projects aimed at enhancing employability.”

The president of the Red Cross in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Heliodoro González, expressed gratitude to the Cabildo for entrusting them with this event’s organization and emphasized that “events of this nature are crucial in raising public awareness about the essential tools required for a successful job search. The true focal points are the participants and the Tenerife business community, which showed immediate solidarity.”

DESIGNATED FAIR ZONES

The fair allocated a section for career counselling where attendees received advice from professionals on various topics such as personal branding, creating ‘Video CVs’, professional portfolio photography, and tips for recruitment processes, talent management, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, a dedicated space was set up for companies, associations, and organizations to engage with attendees.

Moreover, within the Fairgrounds event hall, there were informative sessions by the Red Cross Multichannel Service; psychologist Marisol Bardón; Gloria Díaz from Ashotel and Renzzo El Selector. The event adopted a showroom format, facilitating interaction between entrepreneurs and companies, encouraging cross-collaboration, participation, and transversality among various stakeholders. Furthermore, the initiative aimed to offer insights into the local job market, promote access to employment opportunities, and facilitate direct applications to companies within each sector.
