The La Laguna City Council, under the jurisdiction of the Citizen Security Department, will soon open a bidding process for the purchase of three surveillance cameras equipped with “high definition and night vision” capabilities for the Quadrilateral nightlife district.
The aim of these devices is to enhance the quality of surveillance footage to facilitate monitoring and intervention by the Local Police, as detailed in a statement released by the local authorities on Friday.
Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, announced that “three high-definition night vision cameras will be added to complement the capabilities of the existing devices located in key areas of concentration and importance.” Additionally, the mayor revealed the acquisition of new image recorders with improved quality and storage capacity.
Cristina Ledesma, Councilor for the Area in La Laguna, supplemented this update by stating that “the pre-existing video surveillance systems have been enhanced through cleaning, calibration, and adjustment of all cameras installed in La Laguna and the surrounding streets.”
Ledesma also highlighted that “the surveillance cameras work in conjunction with various security measures, including the presence of Local Police and National Police units year-round, aimed at preventing incidents or disturbances, while regulating access to the area to prevent potential risks posed by glass bottles or other hazardous items to the general public.”
