Santa Cruz of Tenerife is gearing up to host the Easter celebrations from Friday, 22nd March to Sunday, 31st March. To ensure the smooth running of the events, there will be temporary traffic restrictions and parking bans in place. Visitors participating in the festivities are kindly requested to cooperate with the security personnel present and adhere to the guidelines provided.
Some of the major traffic diversions and parking restrictions are as follows: On 22nd March, traffic will be diverted from 8:15 p.m. onwards on Santo Domingo, Calzada de La Noria, and Antonio Domínguez Alfonso streets during the procession of Our Lady of Sorrows. On Palm Sunday, 24th March, traffic will be redirected at 09:00 hours from Nuestra Señora del Rosario Parish (El Tablero) to Plaza de la Iglesia, with no parking allowed between the kiosk and the church. Additionally, traffic blocks will be in place around the parish of Santiago Apóstol (Barrio de la Salud) at 09:45 hours.
By 11:00 a.m., traffic will be redirected around San José Parish and adjacent streets such as: Méndez Núñez, Ulises Guimerá Castellano, San Miguel, Pintor Teodoro Ríos, Santiago, and El Saludo. Further traffic diversions will take place at 11:30 a.m. from Plaza de Duggi to Maria Auxiliadora parish through Ramón y Cajal, Benavides, and General Serrano streets. The evening of Palm Sunday will witness traffic diversions from both 12:00 hours and 8:30 p.m. from San Francisco Parish to Villalba Hervás Street via Ruiz de Padrón, Castillo, and Valentín Sanz streets. Parking restrictions will be enforced on Villalba Hervás Street, from Plaza del Príncipe to San Francisco.
On Holy Monday, 25th March, two traffic diversions will be in place for the processions at 8:15 p.m. starting from Nuestra Señora de la Concepción parish through Santo Domingo, Cruz Verde, and Castillo streets. Parking restrictions will be in place from 6:00 p.m. on various streets. And another diversion will occur at 10:00 p.m. from San José Parish to Méndez Núñez street, passing through Las Ramblas (central area) and San Martín street. Parking restrictions will be active from 7:00 p.m. on Méndez Núñez Street.
On Holy Tuesday, 26th March, traffic will be diverted from 7:00 p.m. from San Francisco Parish to Señor de las Tribulaciones street, passing through several streets. Parking restrictions will be enforced at different sections of streets. In addition, motorcycle parking will be prohibited on San Francisco street.
For Holy Wednesday, 27th March, traffic diversions will take place at 8:30 p.m. for the Meeting Procession through several streets affecting parking arrangements as well. Parking restrictions will apply in designated areas.
On Holy Thursday, 28th March, there will be a traffic diversion from 8:30 p.m. starting from Nuestra Señora de la Concepción parish through various streets. Parking restrictions will come into effect earlier on selected streets and areas.
Good Friday, 29th March, will see traffic disruptions and parking restrictions commencing from 10:00 a.m. onwards in several locations. Parking will be prohibited starting from early morning on specific streets. The afternoon and evening will also have diversions and parking restrictions in place.
As Easter Sunday, 31st March, approaches, traffic diversions and parking restrictions will be implemented from early hours. Visitors are advised to plan their visit and parking arrangements accordingly.
